my life has been a mirage

a desert of intimacy 

my throat has been dry since birth

receiving not a teardrop of moisture 

i ache

i long

when i see a quenched woman

being given life 

through my mirage

i have touched a body of water twice

close enough to see the poison

the still dark bed

yet i need it

no matter the source

it burns my insides

it courses through my veins and

my heart beats a few more days

constricted, longing, for my mirage

my mirage nourishing another
